High winds and rain likely later today

Rough weather is likely ahead for the area this afternoon -- the worst should arrive this afternoon.

Things will begin to go downhill this morning when showers and storms move into Alabama from Mississippi.  Some of these storms could be severe with the main risk strong wind gusts, but a tornado cannot be ruled out.

The worst of the weather here should be during the afternoon hours, but we could see storms in west Alabama as early as mid-morning.  The highest risk of severe weather today will likely be north of Birmingham, with the chance decreasing farther south.  So, for us, the chance of severe weather will be higher in the northern sections of our area - Coosa, Chilton, Autauga, Tallapoosa, Chambers counties, etc.

The rain and storms will stop later this evening, and we'll enjoy a very nice work week.  Afternoon high temperatures tomorrow will stay in the upper 60s to lower 70s with full sunshine, and the rest of the week will feature 70s each afternoon, 40s at night, and a lot of sun along the way.

Another storm system will impact Alabama by the weekend with another chance of rain and storms.
