Prattville to lower flags in honor of fallen soldier

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) - The city of Prattville will lower its flags to half staff Monday in honor of a fallen son, Army Specialist Nicholas (Nick) Hensley.

The flags at all city facilities will be flown at half staff starting at sunrise on July 23, 2011. They will remain that way until sunset of the same day.

Hensley, who died after being severely injured in Afghanistan, is survived by his wife Gloria Hensley; parents Terry and Joan Hensley; children, Nora, Ella, and Anna Hensley; sister, Michaela Hensley; nephew Landon Hensley; and his parents]in]law, Nicholas and Susan Mills.

Specialist Hensley's family will hold a memorial service honoring him on July 23rd, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Living Water, 435 Sheila Boulevard, in Prattville.

"Please join me in honoring Specialist Hensley, a true American hero who sacrificed his life in defense of our country, our safety, freedoms, and beliefs," said Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. "Our prayers continue to go out to the Hensley and Mills families during this difficult time."
