Construction crew hit in fatal I-85 crash

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - A single-vehicle crash is responsible for the death of one person and the injuries of two others along Interstate 85. The crash happened near the 48 mile marker just outside of Auburn around 10:00am Monday.
Alabama State Troopers say the driver of a 2010 Ford Focus left the roadway and struck two construction workers who were in the median. The driver is identified as 52-year-old Raymond G. Stukel.
Authorities say one of the construction workers, 53-year-old Estabon Leos of Moss Point, Mississipp, was killed in the collision.
Stukel and a second worker, identified as 44-year-old Spanish Fort resident Agustin Gonzalez, were taken to East Alabama Medical Center for treatment. Their injuries are side to be minor in nature.
The crash caused heavy traffic delays, but the roadway has since fully reopened to traffic.
An investigation into how the crash happened is under way.
