A Starkville, Mississippi, man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to killing his Alabama college roommate in 2001.

20 year old Earnest Jackson entered the plea Thursday the second day of his trial. The plea came after a forensic pathologist testified that two gunshot wounds to the head of 19 year old Timothy Campbell were likely not accidental. Jackson and Campbell, of Courtland, Alabama, were also football teammates at Miles College just outside Birmingham. Prosecutors say the motive for the killing was robbery.

On November 24th, 2001, Campbell's body was found covered with leaves in an Oktibbeha County pasture near where his 1996 Chevy Tahoe was discovered a day earlier. Thursday, jurors were shown a videotape of Jackson describing the killing.
