Caspari sister sentenced to prison for arranging brother's escape attempt
ELMORE CO., AL (WSFA) - The sister of an accused murderer out of Elmore County was sentenced to prison time today for trying to help her brother escape from jail.
According to authorities, Judge Ben Fuller today sentenced Jessica Caspari to a six year split sentence. Caspari will serve 28 months in prison followed by three years on probation.
Caspari pleaded guilty in September to paying an inmate on work release $500 to smuggle in pieces of a hacksaw blade to her brother, Josh Caspari, in the Elmore County Jail.
Josh Caspari has been held in police custody for his alleged connection to the February 15 death of Anna Cardwell.
This sentence relates to the first occasion of escape attempted by Caspari. Jessica Caspari and a second woman were arrested in August for allegedly providing her brother with details about the back of the jail and possible escape routes. Caspari has not yet been indicted on the second alleged escape attempt.
