National Postal Customer Council Week (September 16- 20) brings together thousands of mailers, industry partners, postal leaders, and customers to showcase the success of their partnership, to formulate plans for the coming year, and to recognize outstanding service and individual achievement.

This year Timothy R. Costello, District Manager, Alabama District, is the recipient of the "PCC District Manager of the Year" Bronze Award. The Greater Birmingham PCC nominated Costello, citing his "outstanding leadership by example --- critical to the Alabama District, the Postal Service, and its customers." Costello competed with District Managers across the nation.

Costello, a 27-year postal veteran, was promoted to District Manager in November 2011. His team includes Postmasters, Birmingham and Mobile, along with Managers, Finance, Human Resources, Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Programs Support, and Post Office Operations.

During his career, Costello served as Manager, Delivery Programs Support at the Eastern Area Office, Pittsburgh, PA; and Acting District Manager, South Jersey, Eastern Area. He also worked as Manager, Operations Programs Support, Atlanta and Mississippi Districts; Manager, Post Office Operations, Gulfport, MS; and Postmaster in three offices in MS. In addition to his extensive experience in customer services and delivery, Costello was Plant Manager, Gulfport, MS.

The Postal Customer Council (PCC) was established in 1961 to improve communications between U.S. Postal Service customers and managers.
