Civil rights activist arrested at Selma City Council meeting
SELMA, AL (WSFA) - Well-known civil rights activist Rose Sanders was arrested for disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace during a city council meeting held on Tuesday.
Officials say Sanders caused a public inconvenience with "annoying behavior" when she would not allow the council to address her, instead approaching the podium and speaking out of order.
Law enforcement officers asked Sanders to leave and upon her refusal arrested her.
Sanders is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail with a bond of $1000.
