17-year-old arrested in shooting death of Opelika teen

OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) - The Opelika Police Department says an Opelika High School student has been arrested in connection with the death of a fellow student.
Vantavious Hughley, 17, is charged with murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Alizah Ellis Monday.
Hughley is being charged as an adult. He's being held in the Lee County Detention Facility on $150,000 bond.
Police say they are still working on a possible motive in the shooting.
On Monday, Opelika police responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of Edmon Avenue in the Hall Avenue subdivision at 12:50 p.m. Officers found Ellis suffering from a gunshot wound.
Ellis was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where he later died in surgery.
