DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - Dothan City Schools has purchased a new piece of technology to make sure every child is safe going to and from school.

MotoTrax has been installed on all 93 D-C-S buses. The tracking software provides live GPS and makes Dothan City Schools the first school system in the state to have the capability to track school buses in real time.

"This was very important and it really goes a long way because it helps with efficiency with our routes and helps with communication with parents," said Jay Bruner Director of Transportation for Dothan City Schools. "Maybe that bus is running a few minutes late now instead of trying to get a hold of the bus driver on the radio, which sometimes does fail, we are able to pull right up on the computer and see where the bus is located and estimated time of arrival."

The price tag for the Angel Trax program I 384-thousand dollars.
