DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - A suspect is under arrest and charged with murder, Dothan police say, after a woman was killed Tuesday morning at a home in the 300 block of North Herring Street.
Investigators have identified the suspect as 56-year-old Kenneth Street and the victim as 57-year-old Berlita Garnett.
Sergeant Maurice A. Eggleston said the investigation initially started as a firearm assault, but the woman died shortly after being transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center. The case was then upgraded to a homicide investigation.
Investigators took Street into custody and, following further developments in the case, charged him with murder. A preliminary report indicates the incident turned deadly when Garnett threw hot water on Street.
