Victim identified, suspect charged in Madison Ave. stabbing death

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A suspect wanted in connection to a fatal weekend stabbing on Madison Avenue has been arrested, confirms officials with the Montgomery Police Department. Marcus Jerrell Austin, 28, of Montgomery, is charged with one count of murder.
Austin is accused of stabbing to death Diamond Bethel, 30, also of Montgomery, just before 11 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block of Madison Avenue.
MPD and Fire Medics transported Bethel to an area hospital where he was listed in life-threatening condition. He later died at the hospital.
Austin was taken into custody near the scene a short time after authorities arrived. He's being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
A motive has not been released. Authorities say their investigation is ongoing.
