Montgomery man, 56, killed in Fourth of July shooting

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A 56-year-old man was killed in a shooting Saturday morning. Montgomery police have identified the man as Rufus Jackson of Montgomery.
According to Lt. Matthew Mara, police and fire medics responded to the 400 block of South Jackson Street around 9:30 a.m. after receiving a call about a person being shot.
When they arrived, they found Jackson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police had previously said Jackson died at a Montgomery hospital.
According to police, the shooting in under investigation, and no one has been charged.
