MONTGOMERY CO., AL (WSFA) - Some parents aren't happy about what they claim a talking Happy Meal toy is saying.
They say they can decipher the Minion toy using profanity. The toy in question says three phrases when its tapped on a hard surface.
We put the caveman Minion to the test with some parents.
"Honestly, the beginning I don't know what its saying but the last few words sound like W-T-F," said concerned mother Latrista Smith.
Robbie Broadway could make out what she called a "cuss word."
Another Montgomery man picked up on the alleged profanity right away.
"Oh I see what its saying, its say what the f***," he said.
Others say it's is a subliminal message.
"You think about those words and the way they sound then you can definitely correlate the two and make it sound like its saying that," said Ron Broadway.
"The very end, when it goes eh, eh, eh, that's it and it's only because I think that you, now that you've said it that I can make it sound like it but not beforehand," Natalie Ezell said.
Regardless of what the Happy Meal toy is saying, some parents aren't happy.
"We was wanting to see that movie so now I'm curious if it's going to be cussing in the movie. If so, that's inappropriate for children," said Robbie Broadway.
We reached out to McDonald's corporate offices, and they had a very precise explanation for what this Minion was saying, it's even described in the toy's wrapper. According to McDonald's, the toy says "para-la-bukay," "hahaha" and "eh eh."
"Minions speak 'Minionese' which is a random combination of many languages and nonsense words and sounds. 'Minionese' has no translation to, or meaning in any recognized language. Any perceived similarities to words used within the English language is purely coincidental," a McDonald's spokesperson said.
"It's a concern, you don't know what they're putting in there and you don't know what they're teaching your children," said Ron Broadway.
McDonald's insists the Minion's message is innocent, but different people hear different things, we'll let your ear decide.
