MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) supports October's Domestic Violence Awareness Month by reminding Alabamians that help is available.

ADECA wants all of Alabama to be aware of domestic violence and that non profit organizations are here to help by offering processional support to victims. Various non profit organizations are offering free 24 hour crisis lines, emergency shelters, counseling, court advocacy, safely plans and more. For a full list of non profit organizations providing services to victims visit this site.

These services are supported by grants awarded by Governor Bentley. Also funds provided by the U.S. Justice Department and private donations.

ADECA creates state and federal programs in efforts to help build better communities in Alabama.
