MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - It's a first of its kind for H. Councill Trenholm State Technical College in Montgomery. The school has signed a reverse transfer agreement with Troy University.

The agreement allows former Trenholm State Community College students who have transferred to Troy University to transfer credits back to Trenholm State to count towards their associate's degree.

"This is about a partnership that can be included to do other things that we can collaborate on and being able to provide other services not only for our students here at Trenholm but for everybody in the River Region," said Trenholm State President Samuel Munnerlyn, who hopes to create reverse transfer agreements with other four-year universities.

"We have enjoyed a long relationship with Trenholm State and we are excited to be able to enter this reverse transfer partnership today," Dr. Jack Hawkins, Chancellor of Troy University, said. "Reverse transfer creates opportunities for our students and it is the right thing to do, but there is also an economic implication to these types of partnerships as well. The State of Alabama needs more graduates, and students who are better prepared for success benefit the River Region and our state."

Those students qualified for the reverse transfer will have earned at least 15 semester credit hours from Trenholm, at least three semester credit hours from Troy, and must be in good standing at both institutions.
