Meteorologist Vernon Turner: Cool and soggy Sunday
WSFA - Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you have a good umbrella as we still deal with a broad coverage of rain today. The cold front has moved through central Alabama overnight and temperatures are noticeably cooler this morning. The front will have fully moved through the state by lunchtime (12:00 pm) today, allowing the cooler air to reach our southern counties.
TODAY: It appears the cold front will stall out just to our south this afternoon. A more easterly wind flow is kicking into gear an we're appearing to see a cold air damming wedge forming. This CAD wedge will continue our cloudy, cooler, and rainy weather throughout today, tonight and tomorrow. Rainfall will be heaviest for southeast Alabama as lighter rainfall hits central counties. Our high temperature will not be that high at all. Highs will be in the low 60s for central counties and the mid 60s for southern Alabama.
TONIGHT INTO MONDAY: High rain chances shift to the eastern half of central Alabama tonight and tomorrow morning. Temperatures will drop down into the mid 50s as rainfall continues. As we get back to work and school Monday we'll need our umbrellas for at least the first half of the day, primarily for eastern Alabama. Rain looks to persist int he eastern half of the state up until noon. For Monday afternoon the rain will be long gone but we'll still be cloudy with temperatures in the low 60s.
