LEE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - A former deputy with the Lee County Sheriff's Office has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a child.

State Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Kevin Taylor, 38, Wednesday afternoon and charged him with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim's mother contacted the sheriff's office on Nov. 9 to report she believed her daughter had been inappropriately touched by Taylor. Taylor is reportedly an acquaintance of the family. At the time the report was filed, Taylor was employed with the Lee County Sheriff's Office as a deputy.

Taylor was employed with the sheriff's office for about seven years and has been terminated.

The Lee County sheriff asked SBI to conduct an independent investigation due to Taylor's relationship with the sheriff's office.

Authorities believe this was an isolated incident but say the investigation is ongoing.

Taylor was booked in the Lee County Detention Facility. His bond was set at $10,000.

This case will be presented to a Lee County grand jury next year.
