MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The College Football Playoff Committee released the updated playoff rankings on Tuesday.

The top four teams in the rankings were:

#1. Clemson Tigers

#2. Alabama Crimson Tide

#3. Oklahoma Sooners

#4. Iowa Hawkeyes

First two out:

#5. Michigan State Spartans

#6. Ohio State Buckeyes

Remaining Top 25:

#7. Stanford Cardinal

#8. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

#9. Florida State Seminoles

#10. North Carolina Tar Heels

#11. TCU Horned Frogs

#12. Baylor Bears

#13. Ole Miss Rebels

#14. Northwestern Wildcats

#15. Michigan Wolverines

#16. Oregon Ducks

#17. Oklahoma State Cowboys

#18. Florida Gators

#19. Houston Cougars

#20. USC Trojans

#21. LSU Tigers

#22. Temple Owls

#23. Navy Midshipmen

#24. Utah Utes

#25. Tennessee Volunteers

When the final rankings come out on Dec. 6, the top four teams will play in the Orange and Cotton bowls, which will serve as the semi final games, on New Year's Eve.

The winners of the two games will then advance to the National Championship game in Glendale, AZ on Jan. 11.

The committee, which is made of former players, coaches and administrators, will meet on Monday's and Tuesday's to produce the rankings. On every Tuesday, leading up to the final rankings on Dec. 6, the Committee will release its poll.
