DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - Two men are behind bars after a drug bust in Dothan.
Joseph Thomas and Stevie Springfield are charged with drug trafficking and chemical endangerment of a child, according to the Dothan Police Department.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Thomas' home in the 1000 block of S. Bell Street where police found the suspects.
Dothan police say an 11-month-old child was unattended on the living room couch near synthetic marijuana.
Dothan police recovered six guns, 8 ounces of synthetic marijuana and $2,600. One of the guns was reported stolen. Authorities also found digital scales and baggies for packaging narcotics at the home also.
Police Chief Steven Parrish says Springfield is hospitalized from using the synthetic marijuana, also known as SPICE.
"It's really disturbing that people would have their children in an environment like this, but the main thing now is the two gentleman involved are where they belong and they're going to be adjudicated to the fullest extent of the law," Parrish said.
Once Springfield is released from the hospital, he will join Thomas in the Houston County Jail. Their bail is set at $1.5 million.
Parrish plans to seek federal charges against the two suspects.
More arrests are expected.
