MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - FIRST ALERT: COOL DOWN DURING THE WEEKEND: Happy Thursday everyone, only 1 more day between us and the weekend! As we close out the remainder of the day cloud cover is quickly taking over our skies ahead of our next rain maker. The storm system is still over The Gulf and will likely arrive and affect our weather early tomorrow. So with that being said, tonight cloud cover will keep us a little warmer in the low to mid 40s overnight. A few isolated showers are possible just before midnight for southern Alabama.
TOMORROW: The Gulf low will track northeast overnight spreading from south to central Alabama early tomorrow (Friday) morning. Right now timing has the rainfall beginning for southern Alabama after 2:00 AM. The rain will then spread north as the morning continues. The bulk and heaviest rain will come during the morning hours, this quick moving system looks to be out of our area by the afternoon. So umbrellas and rain boots will be good for the morning but by the afternoon only a few isolated showers will be likely as temperatures will be near average in the upper 50s.
WEEKEND: Saturday will be a drier day compared to Friday but there will be changes in our weather. A cold front; not associated with Friday's storm system, will begin to swing through the state late Saturday. Ahead of the front we'll be comfortable near 60 degrees, but behind the front Saturday night we'll be down in the upper 30s with small chance of rain. The cool trend will continue Sunday with a high of only 50 degrees with an early morning chance of rain.
NEXT WEEK: By Monday high pressure will build back in giving us more sun than clouds through Thursday. Temperatures will be slow to rebound. Monday looks to be the coolest day with a high of 46, Tuesday slightly warmer at 49 degrees and we'll be back into the mid to upper 50s Wednesday and Thursday.
