UNION SPRINGS, AL (WSFA) - A Union Springs man lost his life when he tried to stop a fight between two women. Now, his girlfriend is charged in his murder.
Police responded to a home on Peachburg Road around 10:40 p.m. Monday where they found a man lying in the yard suffering from stab wounds to his leg and temple. The man has since been identified as 54-year-old Jobie Adams.
The victim's girlfriend, Crystal Thomas, 27, was taken into custody at the scene.
Union Springs Police Chief Danny Jackson says there was a physical altercation at the home between Thomas and a female friend, and Adams tried to break it up. In the scuffle, Thomas tried to stab her friend. Instead, according to Chief Jackson, she stabbed her boyfriend.
Adams was airlifted to Baptist Medical Center South where he was later pronounced dead. Thomas' female friend received minor injuries.
Thomas is charged with murder, attempted murder and reckless endangerment. She is being held in the Bullock County Jail on $150,000 bail.
