Muslim advocacy group seeks meeting with Gov. Bentley
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A Muslim advocacy group is asking to meet with Governor Robert Bentley following the governor's criticism for the federal refugee resettlement program.
Also during Tuesday's State of the State Address Gov. Bentley talked about recent terror attacks saying among the killers was a refugee from a terrorist nation.
A spokesman for the Alabama chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations calls the statements insensitive. The group says Bentley should review his understanding of the Syrian refugee crisis. His office says Bentley didn't directly reference Syrian refugees.
