MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - We'll be putting our forecast on cruise control for a few days. With zero threat of rainfall through the weekend, our challenge centers around pinpointing temperatures. We'll close the week cool, but hit the weekend with a warmer stride.
TODAY: You know, I think Mother Nature is messing with me. Cold air in place this morning and WNW through the day should be a solid recipe for highs to not climb out of the 50s. But we're already at 53 as of 10am in Montgomery, leading me to believe my forecast high of 57 may be a shade too low. Many locations will struggle to climb out of the 50s today, but given the current pace I suppose a few 60 degree readings could be achieved.
Regardless, it's on the cool but comfy side for the rest of the day with plenty of sunshine. While it won't be quite as windy as yesterday, a stiff breeze in the 10-20 ballpark can still be expected at times.
FRIDAY: Tomorrow looks like a carbon copy of today. Upper 50s with sunshine!
THIS WEEKEND: We'll start a warming trend with plenty of continued sunshine to go around this weekend. Temperatures Saturday will climb into the lower to middle 60s and should get to the 70 degree mark by Sunday. A beautiful weekend through and through.
We'll watch for rain chances to slowly return early next week. Longer range guidance suggests another frontal boundary arriving into the new week which should keep us on the active side.
WIREGRASS TORNADOES: Three tornadoes have been confirmed in southeast Alabama...an EF-0 and two EF-1s.
There are a few additional areas that warrant investigation, and the NWS will need to take a peek at those. We'll update the numbers once all damage areas are assessed.
