MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama State University honored Civil Rights activist Reverend Frederick D. Reese with a living memorial on Wednesday.
The university honored Rev. Reese with a magnolia tree, planted in front of Paterson hall. A marker with information about Rev. Reese also accompanied the tree.
Rev. Reese was a key member of the march from Selma to Montgomery in 1968. He marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as an advocate for voting rights.
