MPD: 1 charged in fatal shooting on Montgomery's S. Burbank Drive

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Department says one person is in custody in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred Friday morning.

Christopher Myhand, 40, was taken into custody at the scene of the shooting and has been charged with one count of murder.

According to Lt. Denise Barnes, officer responded to the 100 block of South Burbank Drive, located off Atlanta Highway, after receiving a call that someone had been shot. When they arrived, they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as 59-year-old Tony Myhand, was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

MPD says the initial investigation reveals that the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation involving family members.

Myhand is being held on a bond set at $150,000.
