GENEVA CO., AL (WSFA) - A quiet Tuesday evening was violently interrupted for an elderly Geneva couple when two men burst through their door, assaulted and robbed them. Now, a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms says the home invasion happened between 7:30 and 8:20 p.m. at a home off Highway 87 south of Samson in the county.
Investigators don't believe the home invasion was random. The sheriff says it appears to have been planned and the victims targeted.
The couple was taken to a Dothan hospital where they were treated and released, the sheriff said. Meanwhile, the suspects, whose descriptions are limited, have not been found.
Anyone with information that could help investigators should call the Geneva County Sheriff's Office at 334-684-2280.
The Samson Police Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Houston County Crime Scene Unit are assisting in the investigation.
Reward money is being provided by District Attorney Kirk Adams' office and concerned citizens of Geneva County.
