Tuskegee family grieves sisters killed in car accident

MACON CO., AL (WSFA) - A Tuskegee family is preparing to bury two sisters killed in a Macon County car accident.

Michelle Smith, 36, and Kyla Yarbrough, 26, were among the five people killed in the two-vehicle accident on U.S. 80 in Macon County on March 19.

Michelle, a file clerk, was a mother of two. Her younger sister Kyla was a certified nursing assistant at a retirement home, and had a 4-year-old son.

"Michelle was one of those people who always liked to make people laugh. She was always happy and encouraging to other people. Kyla was also nurturing. To lose someone so abruptly always has a numbing, horrendous impact on a family," said Tiffany Johnson Cole, the Attorney for the Family.

The Booker T. Washington High School class of 1997 has set up a GoFundMe account to help lift some of the financial burden off the family as they plan the two funerals. To donate visit this website

The funeral for the two sisters is scheduled for Tuesday at the Tuskegee University Chapel at 11 a.m.
