COVINGTON CO., AL (WSFA) - A turkey hunter whose body was found Monday afternoon is being identified as 67-year-old Jonathan Hugh Sellers of Red Level, according to Covington County Chief Deputy David Anderson.

Sellers' body was located by a K9 officer in a ravine on the man's property near County Road 21 just after 1 p.m. Sellers had been missing for several hours when sheriff's deputies and their K9s, as well as officers with the River Falls Police Department, were called in for a search.

Chief Deputy Anderson says it appears the hunter fell into the ravine causing his gun to discharge. He was struck in the upper area of his body and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Sheriff's Office investigator and an officer from the Law Enforcement section of The Wild Life and Freshwater Fisheries Division have ruled Sellers' death as accidental.

Spring turkey season started March 15th in most Alabama counties.
