Montgomery newborn tests positive for cocaine; mother charged
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A Montgomery woman has been charged after her newborn child tested positive for an illegal drug.
The Montgomery Police Department says officers responded to the 2100 block of East South Boulevard around 10 p.m. on Thursday in reference to a call of a possible chemical endangerment to a child case.
According to court documents, an infant at that location tested positive for cocaine, one day after being born. The mother, identified as 30-year-old Harriett Holloway, also tested positive for cocaine, as well as marijuana.
She was charged with one count of reckless chemical endangerment of a child, and was transported to the Montgomery County Jail where her bond was set at $40,000.
