Montgomery police officer arrested, charged with sodomy
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A Montgomery police officer has been arrested on sodomy charges, officials with the police department confirmed Wednesday.
Lt. Denise Barnes says the officer, Morris Leon Williams Jr., 23, has been charged with second degree sodomy. He remains in the Montgomery County Detention Facility under a $30,000 cash-only bond.
According to court documents, between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday Williams allegedly engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with the victim, whom police say is incapable of consent by reason of being mentally defective.
MPD officials say Williams, who graduated from the police academy in 2013, has been placed on administrative leave. Disciplinary proceedings against him have also been initiated.
The department began investigating with the One Place Family Justice Center and SART/SANE, after receiving allegations of a sexual assault involving an on-duty police officer.
This is the second arrest of an MPD officer this week.
