MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama State University and TV, radio, and film star Steve Harvey have called a weekend news conference to release details on a "major announcement" regarding the Hornet football team's upcoming 2016 season.

Harvey will be joined on the Hornet Stadium football field by University president Gwendolyn Boyd and head football coach Brian Jenkins.

"ASU greatly values partnership opportunities and is honored to be able to have such a stellar-star as Steve Harvey share with the public on Saturday the exciting news of how he and the Hornet Nation will soon be working together," President Boyd said.

Harvey wears many hats. In addition to being a savvy businessman, he's a comedian, actor, author, host of The Steve Harvey Morning Show and game show Family Feud. He's currently hosting NBC's newest Sunday night hit Little Big Shots.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and the announcement will be held shortly afterward at 6 p.m.
