MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Could it be a little warmer? Sure. Could it be a little less breezy? I suppose. Is there any reason not to call the next few days beautiful? No way. A solid stretch of days await as sunshine dominates our forecast. For those with outdoor plans into the weekend, that's music to our ears.
TODAY: Skies are mostly sunny and are expected to remain that way all day long. Temperatures will struggle to climb out of the upper 60s across our northern counties but will warm into the lower 70s south. Breezy conditions will pick up, particularly into the afternoon where northwest flow will blow in the 10-20 mph range.
THIS WEEKEND: An upper trough across the eastern half of the country is making for a very wintry scene from the Great Lake into New England. Proximity to that trough will help keep our temperatures a bit on the cool side for the next few days, but this is April. These troughs really struggle to dig far enough south to really impact us in central and south Alabama. This one is no exception. Cooler, but far from cold.
That trough will begin to lift after the weekend, allowing that glancing blow of cooler air to be replaced by relatively warmer temperatures into early next week.
We'll stick with upper 60s and sunshine Saturday and lower 70s with sunshine Sunday. Sparkling weather all things considered.
NEXT WEEK: Our next system looks to target the area late Monday night into Tuesday as a round of rain and storms works on in. Highs Monday will be near 80 degrees but will likely dip Tuesday with rain around.
Hope you get a chance to get out and enjoy this weekend!
