Former Tallassee Assistant Police Chief sentenced on felony counts

ELMORE CO., AL (WSFA) - Former Tallassee Assistant Police Chief Chris Miles entered a guilty plea for second degree armed burglary and second degree theft of property on Wednesday, both counts occurred while Miles was wearing a badge.
Judge Sibley Reynolds initially issued a failure to appear on Miles' record when he didn't show for his 9 a.m. hearing. Miles arrived at court around 4 p.m. and the Reynolds accepted his plea.
The latest indictments against Miles, 41, included the burglary of a property on West Butler Street in Tallassee in which a firearm was allegedly taken.
Miles was fired from the police department in 2013.
His plea involves a 24-month sentence that will run concurrently with a federal sentence, which he will begin serving in May.
Miles will be sentenced by Judge Reynolds on April 28.
