MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - It was one of those mornings where one single forecast just doesn't cut it. Our weather ranges from warm and sunny to cloudy and wet depending on which part of Alabama you're currently in. Wet weather will play a small part in our forecast through the afternoon as we talk about the return of heat and humidity.
TODAY: Our morning batch of showers (that affected a good amount of us) has now found it's way into southeast Alabama. Along and west of I-65, sunshine has broken out with clouds hanging on east of the interstate. This will make for a tricky temperature forecast in the coming hours. Temperatures will rise rapidly where the sun shines, but will be suppressed where clouds linger. Expect highs into the middle 80s where sun wins out.
The thought is that skies will go partly cloudy for many as we get into the afternoon. While we really don't have anything to get widespread rain/storms going, instability will be sufficient to get a few isolated storms to develop. Severe weather is not expected, but with the unstable airmass a few healthy downpours will be possible.
As is traditionally the case into the Summer season, coverage will favor the afternoon through early evening to the tune of about a 30% rain chance. Remember...the rain chance does not determine how heavy the rain will be. While many avoid rain, those who fall within that 30% should expect a soaking downpour. All or nothing.
REST OF THE WEEK: Rain chances back off and heat build Wednesday as highs take a run at 90 degrees.
An approaching cold front will bring scattered storms back later Thursday into Friday. Our weekend continues to look beautiful with sunshine returning.
