MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Still dealing with a few passing showers this morning, the remnants of a wet & foggy combo that has now seen the fog mix away. While you'd be inclined to think we'll be cloudy and wet through the day, our forecast isn't quite that gloomy. Partly cloudy skies will emerge as we get into the afternoon. That should help ignite a few storms while we await a cold front approaching from the west...
TODAY: Still some light rain on radar, but there's plenty of pockets of sunshine especially west of I-65. We'll go partly cloudy which will allow temperatures to warm well into the 80s again. Middle and upper 80s will be commonplace, dependent on the amount of sunshine.
The cold front stays a good ways to our west into the afternoon, but isolated storms could fire out ahead of it at any point. I think the greatest rain chance waits until later tonight/overnight as the front moves through.
Even with the front passing by, rain chances won't be widespread. Severe weather is not anticipated, but a few gusty storms will be possible. With the parent low well to the north, this front will be rather washed out as it pushes through. That tends to mean only patchy rain coverage but slow movement of the front should keep at least a few raindrops going early Friday.
THIS WEEKEND: No complaints about our weekend weather. Sunshine dominates as we get a little relief from the heat with highs into the lower and middle 80s.
Isolated storm chances will pick back up gradually next week.
