AUM sneaks past Central Methodist in game 3 of NAIA regional tournament

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Game three of the Auburn Montgomery NAIA softball regional was held at the AUM Softball Complex on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

No. 2 AUM snuck past No. 3 Central Methodist with a 3-1 victory.

Both AUM and Central Methodist run ruled their opponents in their previous games. AUM run ruled Lourdes 10-0 in 6 innings and Central Methodist run ruled Rio Grande 8-2 in 8 innings.

The win over the Eagles Tuesday marks win number 50 on the season for the Warhawks, making them the first team in program history to accomplish that feat.

Taylor Powell got yet another win on the circle extending her record to 32-3. She recorded six strikeouts, five hits, and one run through seven innings pitched.

No. 2 AUM will face Central Methodist in the championship game on Wednesday after the Eagles defeated the Rio Grande Red Storm Tuesday night. The championship game will be at 1 pm.

If AUM cranks out another win on Wednesday, they will not be forced to play Game 7. Game 7, if necessary, will be played at 3:30 on Wednesday.
