MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The secretary of the United States Department of Transportation, Anthony Foxx, visited Montgomery on Tuesday to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycotts.

Foxx stopped at Alabama State University to speak about the history of transportation in the United States.

Foxx said Montgomery is monumental in the history of transportation because of the civil rights efforts that have been made in the city.

The audience included students, community leaders and city employees.

Foxx called residents of Montgomery to be present and active in decision-making when it comes to planning transportation projects.
