AL National Guard's 1670th Transportation Company set for deployment to Kuwait

BARBOUR CO., AL (WSFA) - Soldiers with the Alabama National Guard's 1670th Transportation Company are scheduled to deploy to Kuwait Saturday.
The 1670th Transportation Company is based in Brantley and Clayton. The company will deploy approximately 160 soldiers to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The men and women of the 1670th will provide transport for heavy equipment in their area of operations. The unit will undergo additional training at a mobilization station before deploying overseas.
The general public is invited and encouraged to attend a deployment ceremony at the Eufaula Community Center. It will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Since 9/11, the Alabama National Guard has called more than 22,000 personnel to active duty. The state remains a top contributor among the nation's National Guard organizations.
