AUTAUGA CO., AL (WSFA) - Three Autauga County inmates allegedly tried to dig their way out of jail.

The Autauga County Sheriff's Office says Carlos Coleman, Jerry Coleman and Stanley Perdue tried to escape by digging through the concrete block walls of their cell.

The inmates were able to remove some mortar between the blocks before being caught.

Investigators say the three men were in custody on charges ranging from domestic abuse, eluding a police officer and attempted murder.

Now they also face destruction of property and escape charges.
