SELMA, AL (WSFA) - As of 10:30 a.m. Thursday, 25 correctional officer trainees will graduate from the Alabama Department of Corrections Academy after completing an extensive 12-week course.
ADOC officials say completing the academy certifies these trainees as law enforcement officers. Each has met the requirements of the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission.
During the graduation, ADOC Associated Commissioner for Plans and Programs, Steve Watson, will give a commencement address.
As the state's largest law enforcement agency, the ADOC says it is pleased to have these men and women joining the department with a commitment to public safety.
