MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Huntingdon Hawks improved to 2-0 on the season on Saturday with a 49-28 victory over the Birmingham-Southern Panthers in Montgomery.
The Hawks racked up an impressive 531 yards of total offense against the Panthers while Birmingham-Southern amassed 420 yards.
Huntingdon took a commanding lead in the first quarter, going up 21-7 over the Panthers.
Quarterback Luke Bailey ran for a touchdown and threw for a touchdown while running back Vic Jerald also ran for a score to give the Hawks 21 points.
The Hawks cruised into the half with a 35-14 lead, and kept the pressure up by hanging 49 points on Birmingham-Southern.
Bailey shined once again for the Hawks, completing 20 passes on 26 attempts for 268 yards and three touchdowns.
Bailey's top two targets were Nick Haas and Otis Porter, both of whom had seven receptions each. Haas finished with 128 yards and two touchdowns while Porter finished with 93 yards.
Running back John Iwaniec led the Hawks on the ground with 16 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown. In fact, every Huntingdon player to record a rushing attempt scored a touchdown on Saturday, including Bailey and Jay Ware.
The Hawks gave up 420 yards of offense to the Panthers, but held Birmingham-Southern to just 4-of-13 on third down attempts and forced one turnover.
