Weather Blog: Summer with a stranglehold

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Only a week away from the start of Fall, Summer appears to have no intention of giving up just yet. Our weather remains very August-like with above normal temperatures and very little rain to speak of...

TODAY: With Tropical Depression Julia spinning to our east, easterly flow will continue to allow drier air to remain across the region. This lack of moisture will contribute to mainly sunny skies with very low rain chances into the afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the middle 90s today, well above the average high around 88 degrees.

While this won't help our drought situation, it will make for solid viewing of the full Harvest Moon tonight & tomorrow night. The Moon is officially full on the 16th, but tonight will be close enough to warrant taking a peek.

Tonight's moonrise is at 6:17, tomorrow's at 6:59 pm.

INTO THE WEEKEND: Slightly better moisture this weekend will allow rain chances to trickle upward, but not by much. Expect only isolated coverage of mainly afternoon thunderstorms with a continuation of lower and middle 90s.

Still not seeing any major push of Fall air over the course of the next 7 days.
