MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Three former Faulkner student athletes have been indicted on murder charges.
Tabias Russell, Ronnie Williams, and Marshall Wall are charged in the death of their former classmate, Ryan Brooks, in December 2014.
According to detectives, Brooks was killed while he and the suspects were trying to rob a fellow Faulkner student at his house.
During a preliminary hearing, a Montgomery detective testified Brooks rushed the homeowner in an attempt to rob him of marijuana.
When Brooks ran towards the homeowner, he was shot and killed.
The other three took off, leaving Brooks behind. He was later found dead a block away with a bandanna still covering his face.
The detective said Brooks had a large hunting knife on him.
