BULLOCK CO., AL (WSFA) - An inmate at Bullock Correctional Facility in Union Springs has been transported to an off-site medical facility for treatment after being stabbed early Wednesday morning, according to Alabama Department of Corrections spokesman Bob Horton.
Horton, who did not elaborate on the severity of the inmate's injuries or identify him, said the altercation started around 6 a.m. and involved several inmates in a housing unit.
The facility is on lockdown while an investigation takes place.
There were no injuries to any other inmates or officers, according to Horton, who said the warden reported that conditions at the facility are currently calm.
According to the ADOC's website, Bullock Correctional is a medium security level facility with a prisoner capacity of 1,609.
