Breast Cancer Awareness month events planned in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, several events are planned in the River Region to increase awareness of the disease, support survivors, and remember those who have lost their fight.
 
Saturday, October 8, Carver High School is hosting "Betty Hall's Coming Home for a Cure" 5K walk and run, involving more than 50 students. The event to raise awareness about breast cancer, and also remember a member of their family who battled breast cancer.

The event is named after Principal Gary Hall's mother who died from cancer. It starts at 8:30 a.m. at Carver High School.

Also Saturday, October 8, at 8 a.m., the Alabama State Softball team is hosting its "Think Pink" Tournament. The team is partnering with the American Cancer Society. Fans and spectators can purchase apparel and pledge cards to pay tribute to those who have battled breast cancer.
