MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Remember that time when Summer was done & Fall arrived? Yeah...that was nice. Summer is making another cameo in our forecast as temperatures flirt with record territory Friday. And rain? Forget about that...
TODAY: A batch of rain is awfully close to northwest Alabama this morning, and it's possible far northern counties get in on some wet weather today. But sadly, that means little for us.
Sunshine will be filtered by clouds at times, but temperatures will still moderate into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. Today's record high in Montgomery is 91, set in 1883 (133 years ago!). That record should hold, but it could be close.
Friday Night Fever games will be plenty warm and plenty dry.
WEEKEND AND BEYOND: I'll throw a five to 10 percent rain chance into the mix Saturday, but it will be inconsequential to the drought situation. Otherwise, partly cloudy skies will dominate with highs in the middle and upper 80s this weekend. Those numbers jump back to around 90 degrees for the first few days of next week.
Toward the end of the week, models diverge on a shift in the overall pattern. Regardless, a shift should occur. That will allow temperatures to go down while rain chances go up.
