MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Huntingdon Hawks improved to 5-1 on the season with a 55-13 win over LaGrange College in Montgomery on Saturday.
With the win, the Hawks have now defeated four teams by 21 points or more this season.
It was a close game at the end of the first quarter as the Hawks led by just seven points but then it was all Huntingdon as the Hawks scored 34 unanswered points. Huntingdon held LaGrange to just seven points in the first half and six points in the second half.
The Hawks outgained the Panthers 564 yards to 320 yards.
Huntingdon did a great job of out with a balanced offensive attack, throwing for 279 yards and rushing for 285 yards.
Quarterback Luke Bailey completed 19 passes on 29 attempts for 266 yards and two touchdowns.
Bailey's favorite receiver on Saturday was Otis Porter who caught five passes for 69 yards. Zach Camp and Nick Haas were on the receiving end of Bailey's touchdown passes. Camp finished with 66 yards on three receptions and Haas finished with 32 yards on one reception.
John Iwaniec led the Hawks on the ground with 83 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. Jay Ware added another touchdown and 66 yards on six carries. Vic Jerald found the end zone twice and finished with 43 yards on 12 carries. Dontavion Cunningham also picked up a rushing touchdown and finished with 56 yards on 10 carries.
Huntingdon did a great job of winning the turnover battle as the Hawks' defense forced three turnovers while the offense didn't give the ball up once.
Huntingdon's defense also sacked LaGrange quarterback Connor Blair seven times, which resulted in a loss of 32 yards. Drew Wheeler led the defense with 2.5 sacks while Heath McCray was right behind him with two sacks.
The Hawks travel to Methodist next week for another conference matchup.
