MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) - A Montgomery man was arrested Monday and charged in a residential burglary in Millbrook.
According to a news release from the Millbrook Police Department, officers responded to a burglary in progress at the 100 block of Gardenia Road just before 10 a.m. Monday.
The victim told officers she left her residence to briefly run an errand. When she returned home, she entered the front door and noticed a man fleeing out the back door of her residence. The armed victim followed the intruder outside and fired one shot at him as he fled the scene.
Just north of the victim's residence, law enforcement was advised by a citizen of a suspicious man running through the Timberbrook subdivision. Officers located and detained a suspect matching the description given by the victim in the 900 block of Deatsville Highway.
The suspect was identified as Emmanual J. McCloud, 22, of Montgomery.
McCloud was placed under arrest and charged with burglary third degree. He was transported to the Elmore County Jail. McCloud was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear issued by the Millbrook Municipal Court.
"This situation ended in the best possible way, in that no one was killed or injured. Our officers did an outstanding job in responding to the area of the burglary, a citizen was able to provide us some vital information with regard to a suspicious subject in an adjacent neighborhood, and our officers were able to locate and detain said individual," Chief P.K. Johnson stated.
