MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A man accused of shooting two security guards outside a Montgomery business has been found guilty. Prosecutors say surveillance video from the scene made all the difference in the case.

Investigators say Artis Matthews got into an altercation with security guards outside of Freeze Daiquiri Bar and Grill on the Southern Boulevard. Surveillance video shows Matthews speaking with the guards and then leaving. Matthews is then seen coming back with a gun, shooting and injuring the guards.

Montgomery County Deputy District Attorney Leon Hampton says the video made a big difference in the investigation.

"It no doubt aided us in the prosecution of this defendant. It makes things much easier if every facility would make sure that they have good, working security camera so that they can catch when these acts of violence take place at their facility." Hampton said.

Matthews was convicted on two counts of attempted murder. His sentencing has been set for November 17th. The DA's office is asking for Matthews to be sentenced to life without parole.
