MONTGOMERY CO., AL (WSFA) - A man's body was found on the side of a road in south Montgomery County Thursday, according to Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham.
The victim was identified as Antonio Demond Washington, 38, of Montgomery. A county maintenance crew found Washington's body around 10:30 a.m. on the side of Mount Zion Road, which is just north of Ramer.
The chaotic scene unfolded just a few hundred yards from Billy Gibson's driveway.
"10-15 law enforcement vehicles, crime, scene just they had the road blocked it was a nightmare," said Gibson.
The homeowner says you don't see that in his close-knit community and thoughts were racing through his mind.
"Did I know him? What happened? What went on? Was the guy running loose down around here?" asked Gibson.
Cunningham said the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Washington was last seen in Montgomery Tuesday.
"People tend to want to be quiet about stuff like that but anytime someone goes out and commits a crime, the community needs to be upset," said Sheriff Cunningham.
Cunningham said there were visible wounds Washington's body, but that is all the information he could release at this time.
